G1 Contender For Soqrat's Sire Epaulette

The Sandown Stud-based Equus Champion Soqrat received a notable update to his pedigree, when his dual G1 winning sire Epaulette provided a very smart winner at Sha Tin on Friday.
Champion trainer David Hayes had four impressive Aussie bred winners at Sha Tin on Friday, but none more so than Epaulette gelding Super Wealthy, who won the G3 National Day Cup (1000m).
Hayes plans to target the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) after Super Wealthy threatened Sha Tin’s 1000m course record with a brilliant three-quarter length win under Alexis Badel in 54.96 seconds, narrowly missing Valiant Dream’s course mark of 54.68s.
The winning trainer indicated the G2 Premier Bowl Handicap (1200m) on 17 October was Super Wealthy’s likely springboard into the Hong Kong Sprint on 12 December.
“That’s probably a really nice race (Premier Bowl) because he’ll be well in at the handicaps and that will qualify him for the Internationals,” he said.
Super Wealthy as the overall record of six wins and three placings from 14 starts.
His G1 Doomben 10,000 and G1 Golden Rose-winning sire Epaulette is also responsible for the brilliant Soqrat, G1 Del Mar Oaks heroine Red Lark and more than 20 other black type horses.
An exceptional racehorse, and G1 winner at both two and three, Soqrat’s first foals are arriving this season.
