Pathfork Filly Goes Two From Two

Sandown Stud’s G1 winning resident sire Pathfork looks to have a very promising two-year-old to his name this season in the form of Russian Doll.

The latter maintained her unbeaten record when running out a convincing winner at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday, where Russian Doll made it two wins from two starts.

Under Rachel Venniker, the Michael Roberts trained filly showed plenty of heart in landing Sunday’s Willow Magic KwaZulu-Natal Breeders Juvenile Plate (Fillies) over 1200 metres.

Russian Doll ran on strongly down the inside of the track to score a shade cosily by half a length.

Bred and owned by Verna Roberts, Russian Doll had captured her only previous start when scoring over 1000m at Greyville earlier in June.

Russian Doll is out of the Joshua Dancer mare Baronova.

Her sire Pathfork, himself an unbeaten G1 winner at two, is no stranger to siring high-class two-year-olds with his past notable juveniles including G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Mighty High, G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Red Chesnut Road, and the stakes winners Madame Speaker, Miss Honey and Precious Pansy.
