Sandown Tops November Sale

Sandown Stud achieved a notable feat, when the Cape farm headed the Vendors List at the recent November Two Year Old Sale.
Sandown sold ten two-year-olds for an aggregate of R2.105 million, making them the top vendors by aggregate for the sale.
Top lot sold by Sandown was Royal Invitation (Lot 148), an Elusive Fort filly (pictured above) who was knocked down to Rathmor Stud for R575 000.
By the same sire as such G1 winning fillies as Lauderdale and Siren’s Call, Royal Invitation is a half-sister to four winners including G3 East Cape Derby runner up Neartic Dancer, and her dam Early Spring is a winning own sister to the dam of Listed Sophomore Sprint winner Speed Machine and three-parts sister to former Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm.
Sandown, acting as agent for Shadwell SA, also sold an unnamed Silvano colt (Lot 130) to Willem Ackerman for R550 000.
The colt (pictured above) in question, a full-brother to the promising Monashada, is out of the winning Captain Al mare Captain’s Song, with his grand-dam, the four-time winning Super Singer, an A.P. Indy half-sister to G1 winner Magnificent Song.
Willem Ackerman also laid out R325 000 to acquire Sandown’s Rafeef colt (Lot 66), offered on behalf of Shadwell SA, at Saturday’s auction, while the Pathfork filly Empress Game (Lot 154) was knocked down to Paul Peter for R320 000.
