Soqrat Sibling Scores

The Sandown Stud based champion Soqrat received a fine boost to his pedigree when his regally bred half-brother Nasraawy dead-heated for victory at Geelong.
A three-year-old son of Snitzel, Nasraawy showed plenty of courage when getting up to share the spoils in Friday’s Taxi Network Geelong Maiden Plate (1230m).

Under Brian Higgins, the Gavin Bedggood trained gelding got up to force a dead-heat with the Chris Waller trained Gabeira.
The lightly raced Nasraawy, who was making just his third start in Friday’s race, had been fourth on debut before finishing second on his only other outing.
He is out of the Hussonet mare Elzeeza, a dual winning sister in blood to G2 ATC Phar Lap Stakes winner Colorado Claire and the stakes placed dam of G1 winning sprinter Lucky Bubbles.
A direct descendant of the legendary mare Gondolette, Elzeeza is best known as the dam of Equus Champion, and triple G1 winner Soqrat.The latter, a G1 winner at both two and three, won or placed in 14 of his 19 starts while banking in excess of R3.576 million.
Soqrat, a grandson of the late Commands, was South Africa’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2017-2018, after winning three of his first four starts including the G1 Premiers Champion Stakes. He would go on to add victories in both the G1 Cape Guineas and G1 H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes at three, and also finished runner up in the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate in his three-year-old campaign.
